In October 2026, Sherborne will mark the 100th anniversary of Alan Turing joining Sherborne School as a pupil with a two-day conference and festival, a gathering of visionaries celebrating his centenary.

Programme of acitivities
Day One — For the next generation
A programme for around 500 pupils from schools across the region who are studying, or about to study, STEM subjects at A Level. The day will explore the future of digital technology, data science and AI across defence, business, health, arts and education; featuring leading voices in tech, a live demonstration of digital twin technology, guidance on future careers, and an AI conference for sixth formers.
Day Two — For the wider community
A vision-sharing event for business leaders, philanthropists, partners and sponsors, alongside senior figures from government, defence, academia and the arts. A keynote address from an internationally renowned figure in digital technology will anchor the day, introduced by Air Marshal Sir Christopher Coville and Sir Dermot Turing, Alan Turing's nephew.
Together, the two days combine a codebreaking-themed festival, workshops, an art competition and exhibition, and the official launch of the Turing Project, setting the tone for everything the Centre will become.

2026 — Alan Turing Conference
A two-day conference and festival marking the centenary of Alan Turing joining Sherborne School, hosted by Sherborne's schools.
2027 / 2028 — Educational Hub
Development of an interim educational hub, delivering Turing Project programmes for schools and young people ahead of the full Centre.
2030 — The Alan Turing Centre Opens
The purpose-built Alan Turing Centre opens in the heart of Sherborne — a permanent home for education, enterprise and the Turing legacy.
